Consultants and social media "experts" talk of engagement metrics, likes, and crisis comm planning, but what does it all mean to the most important part of any business -- the bottom line? Has social media really changed the way companies work, interact and spend their marketing dollars? Or is it all just hype?
In this presentation Ali Bullock, digital and social media marketing manager responsible for Cathay Pacific's global social channels explains his thinking behind the headlines and what real changes social media is having upon the industry. A speaker on social media, CSR and social good, he is also widely recognized as "Asia's foremost charity wildlife photographer."

Ali Bullock has been involved in the fast evolving world of digital marketing since before many of us had even sent our first email. His experience has taken him from London to Hong Kong, working for many global companies including KPMG, Kellogg’s, Samsung, and Motorola to his current position leading digital marketing at Cathay Pacific’s global head office based in Hong Kong.
Mr. Bullock's role at Cathay began with creating the CX digital strategy and then building the social experience from the ground up.
Today Cathay Pacific holds a world leading customer and brand focused position in social media. With over 20 Facebook properties round the world (and a fan of fan reach of 29 million) to presences on Twitter, Youtube, Sina-Weibo, Renren and the professional network LinkedIn Mr. Bullock's role has been to create, grow and evangelise the world of social media both inside and outside the company.
Quoted in newspapers such as the Financial Times and featured in one of Facebook’s first marketing videos on the travel industry, Mr. Bullock continues in his role to push the Cathay Pacific brand forward in social media.
Outside of his day job, Mr. Bullock is widely recognised as “Asia's foremost charity wildlife photographer” and is a member of the HK Social where he is a speaker on the power of social good.
